There is no room for individuality here

biography

Anne Deeming is Bristol based after studying Sculpture at Winchester School of Art. Anne began to experiment with the of pouring paint in her work several years ago, working on horizontal canvases, dropping pools of paint onto layers of wet paint. The results, though sometimes unpredictable, pushed her to focus on and develop this technique. Her recent paintings have become much more controlled and precise as they explore the processes of mass production and the loss of identity it creates. Devoid of brushmarks each painting is incredibly tactile, with their raised, Braille like surfaces. Completed in acrylic paint the coloured dots close proximity confuses the eye, creating an illusion of movement. The pieces are becoming progressively more complex and layered, the detail added dot by dot.
